Narnia
Our daughter, Paulette, a curate in Shrewsbury, organised a trip to the cinema for members of her congregation to see the Narnia film, ‘The Lion, The witch and The Wardrobe’. My husband, David, our son, John-Paul, and I were invited to join them.
I have always had a fondness for the C.S. Lewis book since I was eight years old. My primary school teacher, Miss Nicole, read it to us in instalments over a number of weeks. She read it so well I was totally entranced, and very taken with Aslan the lion, who was my hero until I watched the Lone Ranger on TV! At that young age, the comparison of the Narnia story to the life of Christ, escaped me.
I wondered how I would enjoy the film, having a vision of the characters in my head, fortunately I was not disappointed. The animation was incredible; it was hard to believe that the lion and other animals were creations of the animators art and not real. The acting, especially on the part of the children, was excellent and very believable. I am looking forward to it coming out on DVD. I can thoroughly recommend this film to those who have yet to see it.
The Guernsey Press published the letter I wrote thanking my teacher, Miss Nicole, for making the magical Narnia story come alive for me. I hope she read the letter if she is still alive.
