A Doer Not A Sayer!
I recently spent a few days in Guernsey visiting my father who is not expected to live for much longer, although he rallied for a while when surrounded by his four daughters.
Whilst in Guernsey, I was introduced to a lovely lady called Wendy Wilson, who is a pastoral worker at Dad’s church, Holy Trinity in St Peter Port. My mother had been singing this lady’s praises and I could see why, the love of Christ shines out of her very brightly indeed. Wendy doesn’t go on about her faith, but in practical ways is supporting my family at this difficult time.
Wendy and her husband, Stuart, run the Guernsey-Romanian mission
www.romanianaid.co.uk and take aid to that country on a regular basis. Even though they have been in some dangerous situations it has not put them off helping the people they have chosen to serve. In contrast, I came across someone on a Christian forum who was boasting about how much time he spent praying and praising the Lord in a day. When someone asked what practical application his faith had, he said that praying was more important!
I wonder which God prefers a Doer or a Sayer?
