DISCOMBOBULATE!!!

We came across the lovely word, ‘DISCOMBOBULATE’, today. I looked it up and discovered that it is a US slang word, of uncertain origin, meaning to confuse, befuddle, bamboozle and flummox. My dear husband said that described his beloved wife so well, NICE! I have to admit that sometimes I am totally discombobulated when given a set of instructions on how to make a piece of high tech wizardry work. Programming the video recorder still defeats me. My grandson’s car seat had me discombobulated when I tried to work out how to clip the straps together. Two-year-old Quinn talked me through it, and when I eventually managed to and strap him in, I earned a ‘Well done, Granny!’ from my little man, which made me feel as if senility was just around the corner!

I sometimes feel discombobulated when reading the Bible, especially the Old Testament. God would appear very vengeful indeed if one believes that it was on his orders that folk were zapped for the least infringement of the rules! I suspect it was more a case of God being used as the excuse for human excesses. Sadly this is still the case today, for instance I have heard that President Bush believes he has God’s blessing for the ill-advised invasion of Iraq!

I have created this piece of artwork, which is how I see myself when feeling discombobulated!
