If I told you that a dozen engineers worked for two years to design the
parts for this watch, including the liquid crystal for the display and the
silicone chip that drives it, then the engineers handed it over to the
technicians who fabricated all the parts and assembled them. Finally, the
watch was inspected for flaws and shipped out to the store where I bought
it. Would you buy that? Probably... it's a good finished product worthy
of its designer.
"Well, that's not what happened at all, let me tell you the real
story..."
Billions of years ago... there were these atoms floating through the
universe and the gravitational effect brought these atoms together to form
certain materials. Then the cosmic winds and random chance and "so on"
caused these things to be shaped into perfect little parts. Then,
(naturally - over millions of years!) they all came together and formed
into this perfect watch that has kept perfect time ever since. No designer,
just random chance and "presto"..... a watch!
Absurd? Yes, if absurd is taking the impossible... to the extreme! Yet
that is exactly what the world is telling our children in an attempt to
disclaim our Creator. Wouldn't it be easier to believe this watch had a
creator, then to believe it came together (by chance) from particles that
have been randomly bashed about space for a few billion years?
Creation arising from randomness or mutations would mean that I could take
all the components necessary to make this watch, put them in a sack and
shake that sack until one day out would come a fully assembled, operating
watch! Better yet... as I continue to shake (as in evolution) there
will be improvements !!! Oh Really? The key word here must be
"time" because they will always remind you that these things took billions
of years. Hummm, when did things start "improving" with time? Even the
master of mutations... Stephen King wouldn't buy this one!
Now... take the arm this watch sits on. How much more complicated is its
design? It has a temperature sensor, the automatic ability to fight off
invaders and if something goes wrong it can send the appropriate signal to
the brain. It can not only transmit but receive messages of all kinds. It
can complete all kinds of movements at the request of a thought! And ... it
is self-healing! Putting it in the simplest of terms.... the arm is a
complex system, vastly more complex then the watch.
Unlike our watch.... the human body has amino acids and these little guys
are real fascinating. Amino acids make peptides, which make proteins and
proteins are the substance of life. Amino acids have two kinds of
molecules, scientists call these molecules "left handed" and "right handed",
partly because they have opposite effects.
Now here's where it gets fun... ALL LIVING TISSUE HAS LEFT HANDED AMINO
ACIDS... not your random 50/50 but over 96% ! But wait, where are the
right handed amino acids? The right handed amino acids are toxic to Life!
Strychnine is right handed, as is brucine, both quite lethal. It would seem
that without a designer to command the use of left handed amino acids, we
would have been poisoned before we could have evolved! Our watch is
beginning to seem less ambitious for a "non-designer" project.
Another crackerjack "accident" is our DNA molecule. The DNA molecule is a
digital code. It's like a tiny, but massive information center. It encodes
about 500,000 pages of information, literally your every detail, in one
molecule! It dictates whether you are a person, a cat, a goldfish, or
whatever. In this one cell there are over two hundred processes going on
that are being instructed by that code. No designer????
Could billions of years of randomness, crashing about, big banging,
gravitating and mixing with all the elements in the universe produce such
staggering organization and miraculous design??? Yea, right..... and
everyday I'm growing younger.
Even without the benefit of being a scientist I am secure in my knowledge
that everything goes from order to dis-order without a creator or
designer. The things on top of my desk, for example, have never shown any
sign of moving randomly towards organization, on the contrary they continue
to uphold the laws of entropy.
Then there's that "green stuff" I occasionally grow in the refrigerator, it
already has life but am I to believe it could evolve into a bird or a
lizard or a person?! If I believed for an instant that random mixtures of
materials and matter, crashing together over long periods of time, then
caught up in some gravitational whirlwind could bring forth order.... out
of chaos, I would race immediately to my husband's closet to observe the
miracle!
Truly, it seems to be more difficult (if not impossible) to believe in
"nothingness" and "random chance" then to accept the simple fact... that
"creation" has to have a creator! Even if that creator is too big for you
to wrap your mind around... so too... is His creation!!!

My thanks to Chuck Missler for most of the intelligent research stuff here.
My thanks to Pastor Chuck Smith and Calvary Chapel for nurturing me to a
place in life where I would spend time on compositions, such as this,
solely for the purpose of sharing with others the glory and wonders of my
God. Mostly, I thank our Lord for the supreme privilege of being called
on of his children... to Him be All the Glory!
